Windhoek, Namibia – August 4, 2025 – Team Amani Riders delivered an outstanding performance at the 2025 Pupkewitz Megabuild Women’s Tour de Windhoek, with Rwanda’s Xaveline (Xaverine) Nirere securing the overall victory and setting a new standard with a commanding solo breakaway.
Gutsy Solo Breakaway Seals Stage 3 Win
During Stage 3 on Saturday, Nirere executed a bold solo attack, riding clear of the peloton and crossing the finish line over 10 minutes and 30 seconds ahead of the nearest competitor This remarkable effort firmly placed her in the leader’s jersey and established a decisive advantage going into the final stage.
Stage 1 and 2: Consistent Podium Presence
The tour kicked off with an individual time trial (Stage 1), where Hadush Merhawit Asgodom of Team Amani earned victory and donned the yellow jersey from the outset. Nirere rounded out the stage with a strong second-place finish in the sprint-heavy first stage
In Stage 2, Lucie Eva de Marigny Lagesse of Team Mauritius edged Merhawit in a nail‑biting photo finish to claim stage honors—but Asgodom retained her overall lead going into Stage 3
Overall Dominance: Amani Secures Podium Sweep
When the dust settled after the five-stage race, Xaverine Nirere stood atop the general classification, claiming the prestigious title for Team Amani. She finished with a total time of 7 hours, 18 minutes, 42 seconds. Her teammate Merhawit Asgodom captured second place, while fellow Rwandan Serkalen Taye Watango earned third—all representing Team Amani Women in a clean sweep of the podium
On the teams classification, Team Amani Women also took the top spot, outperforming strong squads such as Pinkt Customized Cycling and Cycle Nation Enza Construction.
