Team AMANI is a motley crew of top riders from Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and beyond brought together to compete at the highest level.

We race to win, not as a novelty. As a team we’re not interested in just going to tick inclusivity boxes. If we’re going to a race, it’s because we have a legitimate expectation to win.

STORYTELLING

Beyond results, Team Amani’s impact is measured in narrative shifts and inspiration. We are actively changing how the cycling world views Africa. Each Amani initiative - a major race in Kenya, an African in the lead pack at Unbound, a training camp in Iten - chips away at the Eurocentric status quo. It forces fans and industry leaders to reconsider old biases and realize the sport has been “grossly underrepresented” outside Europe.

RACING WITHOUT BORDERS

Team Amani is not content with racing at home – we’re taking on the world. In the past three years, Amani riders have become a consistent presence at premier international events: lining up (and learning) at races like Unbound Gravel, Badlands, the UCI Gravel World Championships, the Cape Epic MTB stage race, and more.

MISSION AND FOUNDING VISION

Team AMANI was co-founded by the late Kenyan cyclist Sule Kangangi and American lawyer Mikel Delagrange with a shared dream: enable East African riders to compete globally by using the region’s famed running success as a blueprint.
